Casey & Brenden
Casey & Brenden
Casey is a lamb we purchased from our good friends Margaret and Graham--she is a black/silver North Country Cheviot. The NCC is very different than the Cheviots here in the US, they are stocky with sturdy legs, a face that reminds me much of the Border Leicester family and a less flighty temperament. Her wool is a beautiful black with silver highlights that will be fun to spin next spring. Her name is Gaelic for 'brave and watchful' which very much describes her! 

Brenden is a beautiful, unique Blue Face Leicester cross lamb we purchased from our friends Graham and Margaret this spring (2005). His name is Old English for 'prince' and he definitely fits his name--he is an elegant sheep and a very stately way about him. He is a good friend to everyone and is getting to know our routine--his favorite friend is Casey but she keeps him a bit busier than he would like most days exploring the pasture. Blue Face Leicester sheep are a relative to the Border Leicesters and have very curly, soft fleeces that are so fun to spin.

11-17-08-Update set for Wednesday of this week--stay tuned for our new Jordan Valley Mill Spun--combinations of yarn spun for us at Argyle Fiber Mill from our own sheep's fiber and Jenny's alpaca/llama fiber--big fun and big news!!! (our first yarn--sock yarn!!!)
