Lucy!
Lucy!
Lucy is a Targhee sheep who has a wonderful, next to the skin soft fleece! She is a big girl and was a 'throw away' sheep after the flock she lived with bred her before she was even 1, and when her first lamb was born, the ligament that holds her tummy in place (inside) was torn and not able to be repaired- no more lambs for Lucy, but we are so glad she got here instead of somewhere worse (which was where she was headed....).

The only way you know Lucy has any troubles is she has a bit of a lopsided tummy- if you see her from the front anyway. She is still shy but has learned about treats so is more trusting. I doubt she will ever be 'tame' but that is fine, we are happy if she is happy! She is 3 years old already, we hope to have her for many more years- because of her issues, she lives with Keebler, Molly and their family to be sure nobody gives her tummy a thump with their horns.... We adore her!

Well, Miss Lucy escaped the 'special needs' pasture and moved in with the big group of sheep- stinker! She is determined to stay out with them so we figure the exercise will be good for her, we just worry that her poor tummy will get thumped/hurt by playing too rough with the other sheep. Our vet said to let her be happy, and she has lost some weight (good for her back/side) and is doing just that, being a happy sheep- with a 'mom' (me) watching her every move- kind of like when your baby starts riding a bike with out training wheels? ;0) Yey Lucy!
