Cold Valley Jacobs!
Cold Valley Jacobs!

Our friends Carl and Becky have a beautiful flock of Jacob sheep. They happily graze, nap and raise their lambs in lush pastures. We've purchased several cute lambs from them over the years too--our Jonte and Pipi, Trillium and Penny!

Their Jacob wool is exceptionally soft, crimpy and has locks that range from 3-4 inches. There is rarely much debris in the fleeces, thanks to living on natural, open pastures!

Jacob fleeces vary in color. From dark gray/brown, to silver, white and of course the more rare 'lilac'. The lilac is from a type of silver that has a lilac tint to it. It is very subtle and absolutely stunning! Carl & Becky's flock is known for the lilac color in many of their sheep's fleeces.

The Cold Valley sheep keep their tails (no docking) and graze almost eight months each year. Jacobs are a primitive heritage breed that are very hardy, can lamb unassisted, and are excellent mothers. Carl and Becky are members of the Jacob Sheep Breeders Association (jsba.org) and The Livestock Conservancy (livestockconservancy.org)

Be sure to watch for their fleeces--you won't be sorry! Take a look at their farmís website http://www.coldvalleyfarm.com !

Just gorgeous sheep, happy happy!!!

News Update

7/18/14- The sheep are enjoying some breezy, not so humid days. Even doing a little tanning of tummies and legs? Whoa!

They are also working on a new blog. We can get into the old one but not to edit or add to it. It will stay on our site as 'archives'. Lots to do lots to do.

Our next update will be Tuesday, July 22. If you are looking for something you don't see on the site, just send an email on over!

Smooches from the sheep!
