2016 -This is another Pyr puppy who landed in the shelter my mom volunteers at. She works 3 days a week walking the dogs. Fletcher has quite a story.

He was owned by a man who through circumstances beyond his control ended up homeless. He loved Fletcher so so much. Fletcher was only around 12 weeks old but he taught him to walk on a leash calmly, shake hands, high five, lay down and loved him. It was a sad day for all involved when he had to turn Fletcher over to the shelter.

He did so because he felt he could not properly provide for the puppy with winter coming. He was going to have to sleep on the streets and didn't want a puppy raised that way. The shelter provided food for Fletcher but it was not enough to keep the man together with his dog. Made me so sad.

Of course I could not resist a Pyr puppy, specially with that story right? After Fletcher was neutered, we picked him up and he's been a joy. SUCH a good puppy. However, as he's grown, he's adopted the Pyr theory that I will do tricks but only when I want to, or not at all. Cracks me up. He loves me best and I love him. He keeps me company in between patrols outside with Milo and Teagan. They run the smaller pasture next to the house with our retired/elderly sheep. The only problem we are working to correct is Fletcher (now one year old) thinks his sheep should ALWAYS stay in the barn. He's working on that one and getting better.

He is a giant and just started another growth spurt? His back is even with my hip now. We call him stilts!
