Milo is a very special case of a Great Pyrenees. When he was younger, someone loved him so much. He is obedience trained (almost unheard of for a Pyr!), does a few tricks and is very very gentlemanly.

Unfortunately something must have happened with his original owner and Milo ended up back with the breeder. He was not treated well, tossed into a pack of other Pyrs who were stronger than him and he was definitely at the bottom of the pack.

He has a deformed jaw, the top is much shorter than the bottom jaw. His tongue hangs out most of the time but it is so much a part of his charm!

At the breeder, this did not work in his favor. He could not eat fast enough to get enough food because of his bite. He also could not defend himself very well. He was a sad dog when we picked him up.

When Milo saw Jim, there was no way we were leaving that dog there. We did not plan to anyway but that second where their eyes met, it was over. Milo loves Jim best of anyone. During the day he sleeps outside at the gate to the driveway where Jim parks his car. He will come in to see that all is well in the house, but prefers that spot outside. Or up on the hill next to the house to watch for the car to come up over the hill.

He also has a few other physical things that give him issues. The worst being his poor head is crooked too. You can't see it under all the coat he has but the top bone of his head is crooked.

Our friend Sara comes out twice a year to stay with us, usually for about a week. It takes a day or so for Milo to accept her. He did much better this time (9/16) and was happy to be around her. However, there was one day he did a little slide and acted like he had never seen her. That happens each time. I think he just has brain farts once in a while. We don't have company much besides my friend Mary. He is fine with her now.

He is a very sweet dog, 5 years old and he came with heartworm so he is having his last treatment today. I hate to see him hurt. We KNEW there was a reason he needed a home- it was not because he was beating up the other dogs like we were told. Water under the bridge now. He's safe and soon to be healthy!

He loves his 'brother' Fletcher best. They play and play outside, probably more than Milo really would prefer too. Fletcher is just one year old and still very much a puppy. :0)
