Here is part of a wonderful group of sheep we adopted from OohMahNee Farmed Animal Rescue of Hunker, Pennsylvania some years back!

Holly is a pretty Merino cross ewe we named Holly because she arrived almost in the holiday season--and she was due to lamb during that time--wa-la, holiday gifts! Her baby Mari was the first ever lamb born on our farm all those years ago! Mari is a Welsh name that means 'most wished for girl.' We thought that fit her very well!

Mari is a big big girl now, still very much attached to Holly (and Holly's new beau Stevie the Jacob!). I am always amazed that the sheep stay with their families forever--so sweet. Just like we do!

Holly and Mari have very similar Merino-like fleeces, soft as a breeze and very teeny crimpy locks. Both girls love a good treat (or 10) and a hug. Mari usually prefers a scratch on that soft wrinkly nose though. I am always happy to oblige!
